Principal's Welcome

I am honoured and privileged to be the Foundation Principal for Mary Help of Christians Catholic College, Shaw. It is my absolute pleasure to serve as the first principal and lead our community towards academic excellence, spiritual growth and personal development.

Our school is set to open its doors in 2025, and I am pleased to inform you that we will be a co-education college, providing a welcoming and inclusive learning environment. As a Catholic school, we embrace the teachings of Jesus Christ and strive to integrate them into our daily lives. Our mission is to foster a holistically balanced education, where students can thrive and be called upon to discover their purpose in life. We believe that a strong spiritual foundation will guide our students to become compassionate, moral and contributing citizens.

At Mary Help of Christians Catholic College, we believe in the power of education to transform lives. We will be providing students with a challenging and well-rounded curriculum that will prepare them for success in the future.

I am thrilled to be a part of this new school and to work alongside dedicated staff and enthusiastic students. I am confident that together, we will create a vibrant and inclusive community that fosters the holistic development of our students.

Thank you for choosing Mary Help of Christians Catholic College for your child's education. I am excited to meet all of you and embark on this journey together.

Principal - Mardi Grubba

I am absolutely thrilled to have commenced in the role of Deputy Principal - Learning and Thinking at Mary Help of Christians Catholic College. This is a wonderful role which will work closely with many other people and groups across the college as we continue to implement and refine our roadmap for success over the coming years.

So... why Learning and Thinking - aren't they the same thing? Well, it is true that learning and thinking are inextricably linked! However, the specific use of the word 'thinking' signals our college's intent to not only establish the conditions for great learning through a knowledge-rich curriculum, but to promote a learning environment where all students explore possibilities, generate and test ideas, and grapple with the challenges of the 21st century through developing and refining critical and creative thinking skills.

This doesn't happen by chance. We will achieve this by implementing evidence-based teaching practices which align with how students actually learn, and explicitly guide our students to utilise their knowledge to critically and creatively inquire, analyse and reflect on their ideas and the ideas of others.

As our college grows into senior secondary, we will provide a comprehensive range of both academic and vocational programs which will prepare our students for their future careers, to ensure that all students graduate with pathways into university study, further training, or the world of work.

I am really looking forward to meeting all of our foundation students and families, and working together to create an outstanding Catholic secondary educational experience for all.

Best wishes,

Paul Allan
